Nottingham Forest are set to announce Ange Postecoglou as their new manager before this weekend’s Premier League fixture against Arsenal.
The club dismissed Nuno Espirito Santo on Monday night and have acted swiftly to secure his replacement.
A club statement confirmed Nuno’s departure, citing “recent circumstances” as the reason behind the decision.
“Nottingham Forest Football Club confirms that, following recent circumstances, Nuno Espírito Santo has today been relieved of his duties as Head Coach. The Club thanks Nuno for his contribution during a very successful era at the City Ground, particularly his role in the 2024/25 season, which will forever be remembered fondly in the history of the Club. As someone who played a pivotal role in our success last season, he will always hold a special place in our journey,” the statement read.
According to The Athletic, Postecoglou will be officially confirmed as head coach in the coming days and is expected to bring with him members of the backroom staff he previously worked with at Tottenham Hotspur. His first match in charge is anticipated to be against Arsenal after the international break.
The 60-year-old Australian has been out of work since leaving Spurs shortly after leading them to a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in last season’s Europa League final, securing the club’s first piece of silverware in 17 years.
Postecoglou, previously linked with roles at LAFC, Bayer Leverkusen, and Fenerbahce, now gets another chance in the Premier League. He was dismissed by Tottenham after a poor domestic campaign that saw the club suffer 22 defeats and finish 17th in the league table.
